Smile ADOPTED! SAVE SPECIAL NEEDS beautiful calico & cream Cornish Rex, Pascagoula, MS

New Update 9/5: Kitty is in her new home! [Scroll all the way down for details and new pix! ]
---------------------------------------------
update 8/27: Kitty has been rescued but tested positive for FIV (this may be a false positive as cats vaccinated can show false positive), and the rescuer has other cats including one that cannot be vaccinated for health reasons. She also has a heart murmur. Many cats with both these conditions are able to live a long normal life (I have a cat with a heart murmur and so far she does not even need medication. The condition can vary a lot--talk to your vet. I have also been told that Rexes sometimes appear to have a heart murmur when they don't, due to the arched back that affects how the heartbeat is heard.). She needs a loving home--are you a compassionate person who loves this breed, has been looking, has no other cats (FIV is not transmissible to dogs)? Please Reply to her rescuer directly ASAP. Below are two new pix, scroll all the way down. Here is info from her rescuer:

"She was found wandering around outside about 4 weeks ago. She was already spayed. We got all her shots updated. She is very timid and hides often, but she is warming up to us and will come out and visit. She had never offered to bite or scratch, so she has been handled before. She is just very timid. We've been taking it very slow with her to keep from traumatizing her even more. You will see a difference in her if you go back and look at her first picture [on the far left below]!

She does greet us with a meow now when we walk in rather than running and she purrs when we talk to her. She has even started to headbutt, but we have to stay very still or she jumps. She likes sitting on the chair under the desk where she feels hidden."

-------------------------------------------------
What a cutie pie! Very reasonable fee, but overcrowded shelter so please hurry! This is a Petfinder listing, so don't reply to this post but contact shelter directly at phone number below. Also see info and link below re further info on the shelter.

Who We Are

The Jackson County Animal Shelter was established in 1985 and is the only animal shelter in the county. It is located on three acres adjacent to the County soccer complex on Audubon Lane in Gautier, MS, just off Highway 90. The shelter handles all animal control needs for all the county's municipalities.

The shelter has the capacity to accommodate 154 medium sized animals (cats and dogs), and four larger animals, such as goats and horses.

Animal control officers work to serve the unincorporated sections of the county. The officers work during regular hours but are always on call, including nights, weekends and holidays to answer emergency calls, such as dog bites and reports of rabid animals.

The shelter averages almost 100 pet adoptions a month. Unfortunately, for every animal adopted five new animals arrive at the shelter.

Re: SAVE SPECIAL NEEDS beautiful calico & cream Cornish Rex, Pascagoula, MS

New update: Jynxe (her new name) has found a home!
Here is the update from her new daddy:

We went to pick up Jinxe In Pascagoula Mississippi today.Lanie and family have really helped her start her road to recovery.
>
> We put her in a carrier and she made it about 4 miles and threw up,pooped and peed on herself. On the side of I-10 i cleaned her up and the rest of the trip was uneventful.
>
> I let her loose and she sat on the headrest in the backseat and eventually on the seat and rested.
>
> When we got home she went into her Sunroom, checked it out, ate, drank, checked out the litter box and started climbing and using the scratching post.
>
> I sat and watched her and (i couldnt believe it) she jumped up in my lap, kneaded my fat tummy, sat on my lap and then turned around and gave me a big head bump.
>
> She did all of this in less than 1 hour, she is a real nice Crex, however my house seems to bring out the mischievousness in kitties so we will wait and see.
>>>
> Thanks again to Lanie and family for saving this precious soul.
